Water and Sanitation

The provision of water is a very basic life requirement. Many countries have scarce or seasonal water availability which needs to be supplemented with additional reliable water resources. SOS provides technical studies and training, water testing and geological expertise as well as drilling water wells, installing water treatment plants and water distribution systems. Hygiene is another focus providing hand washing stations and education about sanitations at schools, medical facilities and homes. Improved water resources and sanitation projects contribute to reduce illness particularly for the very young and very old which are most susceptible to water borne illness. Finally, sanitation is an important needs in many remote communities as protecting water supplies and creating healthy and safe toilets protect the environment and reduce gender inequality.
